Coins for Change: Cuba

Each year Coins for Change partners with missions and parishes all across the island of Cuba to provide Vacation Bible Schools to children and their parents.
For many children and adults, this will be their first significant experience with Jesus Christ and the Church after decades of oppression and religious persecution. They will sing songs, play games, listen to stories, pray, do arts and crafts, and make memories that will last a lifetime. But most of all, they will come to know God’s love through the clergy and lay leaders serving them.
Clergy and lay leaders in Cuba apply for a maximum grant of $600.00 which hosts 40-50 participants for several days of activities. Participants submit an application which outlines their lesson plan and budget. After they have completed their Vacation Bible School they send a report with pictures and testimonies about how those being served encountered Jesus.
What we are asking for is a pledge which is as simple as dropping your loose change into a jar. Beginning each year in September and continuing through May, Coins for Change invites Sunday school classes, churches, non-profit organizations, businesses, and private donors to share their change so that together we can promote change. You can also always write a check for the full amount! All donations are processed through the parish of St. John the Divine and donors receive a signed gift letter. Make checks payable to St. John the Divine and put "Cuba" in the memo.

Now more than ever, your donation can make a difference to the Episcopal Church in Cuba. This year Coins for Change hopes to sponsor 26 Vacation Bible Schools in 2026 across Cuba. Feel free to contact me at fatheralexandujar@gmail.com or call me at 727-201-1891. We look forward to continuing to work with you as we support the mission of the Church to “restore all people to unity with God and each other in Christ”.
Sincerely,
The Rev. Alexander Andujar
