The Outreach Committee continues to focus on monthly specific needs in the community and internationally through ERD. The Committee members are Fr Tracy, co-chairs Karin Risley and Nancy Sheridan, Connie Keister, Charlene Wirick, Katherine Lanoue, Carole Elliott, Millie Walsh and John Posey. Maggie Pliska helps with the “Undie Sundays” drive.
This year we focused on:
- The Lord’s Lighthouse- food, warm clothing , blankets through the year and highlighted several months
- ERD- mosquito nets to prevent malaria
- ERD- provided funds for ERD to help the people of Haiti rebuild after their earthquake.
- Kairos- cash and cookies to support the team working in local prison ministries
- Cornerstone Kids- The St. James House of Prayer Episcopal Church in Tampa –disposable items for the dinner program for inner city kids
- Meals on Wheels- delivering meals for Kings Point and SCC residents who need assistance with meals.
- Souper Bowl of Sharing – our Sunday school kids collected money and donated it to Haiti.
- items-collected and distributed by Carole Elliott for the homeless
- Collaborating with Connie Barfield to collect food and money for Thanksgiving baskets for the Lord’s Lighthouse.
- Collaborating with Connie Barfield to collect unwrapped toys and money for Christmas gifts for the Lord’s Lighthouse children.
- New socks and underwear were collected and distributed to the Lord’s Lighthouse children as they prepared for school starting in Aug.
Katherine Lanoue created slides to promote each month’s focus. They are shown on the projection screen before each Sunday’s service to remind the congregation what is happening each month.
