For many years, St. John The Divine has been blessed with the opportunity to teach children about Jesus.
Children attend the 9:00 service with their parents. The children read the Scripture lesson, lead the prayers, and serve as acolytes. They hear a Children’s Sermon using puppets, drama, and object lessons to bring Bible stories to life. After receiving communion or a blessing, children four years and older go with their leaders to the classroom for Sunday School. We offer a unique Sunday School curriculum called LIVE B.I.G. “Believe in God, believe also in me” (John 14:1) where children hear, see, and live their belief in God. The children enjoy videos, music, a Bible lesson, crafts, and snacks.
Sunday School is in session nine months each year from September through May. During the summer, the children go with their leaders to the Parish Hall to watch Christian-themed, age appropriate videos.
